Cortez, Colo. – Class 14 has opted to celebrate their graduation with, what they are calling, the CALP Clay Shoot Classic on Feb. 26 at Longmeadow Event Center in Wiggins, Colo.
The CALP Clay Shoot Classic will open check-in at 9:30am. The sporting clay, 4-person team event will start at 11:00 am and conclude with lunch and awards following. Shooters will shoot 100 clays each. Teams and non-shooters wishing to attend can register at coloagleaders.org. Prices are $300 per team, $100 if you don’t have a team and $30 for those that wish to attend but not participate in the competition. Attendance will be limited due to COVID restrictions so early registration is suggested.
Shoot Info:
- Class 14 members were challenged to come up with an event that would allow for social distancing and COVID safety measures to be implemented while not conforming to producing a virtual event. Based on results from a survey sent to supporters, many said they were tired of virtual events and would feel safer attending an outdoor event, and thus the Clay Shoot idea was born.
- Planning an event together as a class provides numerous valuable leadership skills for class members. Leadership skills like fundraising, marketing and advertising, program planning and logistics and time management are all skills the Colo. Ag Leadership Program hopes to provide to class fellows when they plan an event such as this. Most importantly, however, it requires the class to work together and continue in building or nurturing relationships with their classmates as well as their community. The CALP director and board of directors know how important it is to provide this experience to the class to round out their CALP experience prior to graduation on the afternoon of Feb. 26.
